NEW ALBANY, Ind. – A Purdue Research Park-based company whose software platform helps industrial clients monitor and manage utility usage has hired an industry veteran as its chief technology officer.

Hershel “Ed” Fancher, president of EnterScape™, announced the hiring of Byron Guernsey as the company’s CTO. Guernsey has a background in developing home energy management technologies at General Electric Co.

“Byron will oversee the strategic implementation and deployment of software upgrades as well as optimize the technology’s user interface,” Fancher said. “He also will lead the initiative to collect data from sources, such as direct utility bills, so customers have the ultimate solution for enterprise data collection by combining billing and financial data with on-site actual operational data.”

Fancher said Guernsey has a proven ability to lead innovative development.

“He was the lead programmer for GE’s utility monitoring platform that focused on-demand conservation and reducing peak loads,” he said. “His creativity and combined CTO and programming experience make him a great addition to the EnterScape team.”

Guernsey said he joined EnterScape to be part of the solution to cut wasted energy in American homes and businesses.

“Energy conservation has become one of our national goals. It’s good for our economy, our environment and our national security,” he said. “EnterScape has a strong team and a solid technology platform for achieving that goal, and the company is making a major impact for their customers in reducing wasted energy and in cost savings.”

In November, EnterScape launched UtilityRecon 2.0 at the 2012 World Engineering Congress in Atlanta. It allows users to monitor total energy consumption and trigger a load-shedding event to reduce peak demand and charges, and can create as many analytical reports and dashboards as needed for continuous monitoring.
